Drishyam 3 Movie Review & Rating!

The Malayalam hit films Drishyam and Drishyam 2 were earlier remade in Telugu with Venkatesh and became successful. Now, Drishyam 3 has been released in theatres in its original Malayalam version with Telugu dubbing instead of a remake. Has this third part impressed the audience like the earlier films? Drishyam 3: George (Mohanlal) is living happily with his family and becomes a successful film producer after making a movie inspired by his past. While he tries to settle his elder daughter’s marriage, Varun’s family once again targets George over the old murder case. Their actions create fresh troubles for the family. How George protects his loved ones and escapes from the new problems forms the rest of the story.

Performances: For Telugu audiences familiar with the Drishyam series, the characters in Drishyam 3 may feel confusing initially. Mohanlal looked dignified as George, though his role offers less scope compared to the earlier parts.

Meena performed well, but Asha Sharath’s once-powerful Geetha character was sidelined, which disappoints. Siddiqui’s cruel portrayal feels ineffective at times. Sahadevan’s character and villainy work well and stand out in the film. However, weak character development for several supporting roles becomes a major drawback.

Technical Aspects: Since Drishyam 3 was directly dubbed into Telugu, many viewers may feel confused with the original character names. The first half feels slow like a TV serial, and even the main conflict is not clearly explained until late in the film. The climax twists appear forced and do not create the excitement seen in the first two parts.

Some characters also lack proper closure and strong development. It feels like the director focused more on twists than emotional depth. However, the film scores well technically with impressive cinematography, sound quality, and production design that suit the story well.

Analysis: When Drishyam 3 was announced, many felt Venkatesh missed a strong sequel. But after watching the film, audiences may feel his decision was correct. The movie lacks the excitement and impact of the earlier parts and does not offer a strong theatrical experience. Watching it later on OTT may be a better option.

Verdict: Drishyam 3 lacks the thrill and smart twists of the earlier films. Despite decent technical quality, it works better as a one-time OTT watch than a theatrical experience.

Bottom Line: A slow and less engaging sequel.
