Sanjay Dutt, the notorious bad boy of Bollywood, has many tales to share, and among them is the time when, believing Rishi Kapoor had an affair with Tina Munim, he went to beat him up at his home. According to accounts, Sanjay launched his acting career with the 1981 film Rocky, which starred Tina opposite him; at the time, the two were in a relationship, but it ended because of his addictions. Tina then moved on and had an affair with actor Rajesh Khanna, but she eventually wed Anil Ambani and the two are still together today.

Sanjay Dutt was persuaded in various ways for the most well-known film that Rishi Kapoor and Tina Munim collaborated on, Karz, even though they were never romantically linked. Sanjay’s close friend Gulshan Grover, who wrote the biography of Rishi Khullam Khulla, detailed the day Sanju and he went to Kapoor’s house to beat him up. Thankfully, Neetu Kapoor was able to control his emotions and stop the attack.

Talking about the incident Gulshan said, Gulshan revealed, “It’s true. Sanju was having an affair with Tina Munim at the time, and he thought that Chintu was having one with her too.” Further explaining his relationship with Sanjay Dutt, Grover recalled, “Sanju and I were like brothers, and he told me one day, ‘We have to go to Chintu’s house and beat him up’. We went to do that, but his fiancée Neetuji managed to convince us that Chintu was not in any such relationship. So we left.”

Who would have imagined years later that Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor would portray Sanjay Dutt on screen and do so with such conviction? The movie Sanju was a critical and financial triumph.
