Diwali Delights in Tamil and Hindi, but Tollywood Remains Silent

Undoubtedly, Sankranti reigns supreme as the prime season for movie releases in the Telugu film industry. Following closely, the Dasara season holds significance, offering schoolchildren a week of holidays. Additionally, the summer season witnesses a slew of major releases, catering to the youth’s leisure time.

However, it’s intriguing that Tollywood consistently overlooks Diwali, unlike their counterparts in Tamil and Hindi cinema. While big heroes from other regions capitalize on the Diwali season with movie releases, Telugu filmmakers exhibit little enthusiasm. This year, Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ is set to hit theaters on November 12th, generating substantial anticipation.

Simultaneously, Tamil actor Karthi is arriving on November 10th with ‘Japan,’ accompanied by ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ starring Raghava Lawrence. In contrast, the Telugu film industry lacks noteworthy releases during this festive week. Vaisshnav Tej’s ‘Aadikeshava,’ initially slated for November 10th, has been postponed to the 24th, with the World Cup cited as the primary reason.

RGV’s political drama ‘Vyuham’ is also scheduled for release on the same date, but it has failed to generate significant buzz. Beyond these, there are no prominent Telugu films set for Diwali. The puzzling aspect is why Telugu producers consistently avoid the Diwali season, even when other industries thrive during this time. While the World Cup may be a contributing factor, it’s undeniable that Telugu filmmakers routinely opt out of Diwali.
