Director’s Pain Goes Viral After Film’s Poor Response

The film Tribanadhari Barbarik, starring Sathyaraj, Udaya Bhanu, Vashishta Simha and others was released on a small scale but could not attract audiences with many theaters running almost empty.

Disappointed by this the director Mohan Srivatsa expressed his pain in a video that soon went viral. He said that when he went to watch the film in a theater only about ten people were present.

Even though the viewers told him the movie was good he wondered why such films are not supported while Malayalam films often get more encouragement.

Earlier he had vowed, “If I don’t like my film, I will beat it with my sandal”. Keeping that promise in the video he struck himself with a sandal and posted it on Instagram.

His emotional act has become a hot topic on social media sparking debates about the struggles of small-budget films and the director’s dramatic reaction.
