Tamil filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran passed away on June 2nd after suffering a cardiac arrest while traveling by bus from Madurai to Chennai.
His sudden death shocked the industry and friends expressed their sorrow online. He was originally from Tamil Nadu and moved to Chennai to follow his passion for acting and filmmaking.
He started his career in the early 2000s under the guidance of director Balu Mahendra working on short films and also films.
However Vikram found his true calling as a director with his debut Madha Yaanai Koottam in 2013, which was praised for its raw village backdrop and storytelling.
He returned with Ravana Kottam in 2023 and was reportedly working on Therum Borum a film based on mountaineering.
