Diljit Dosanjh received notices from the Telangana government over alcohol being served at his Hyderabad concert. Speaking at his Ahmedabad concert, he responded to the issue and criticized the Telangana government indirectly.
Diljit clarified that he neither consumes alcohol nor promotes alcohol brands. He suggested that governments should ban alcohol across India, and only then would he stop singing songs about it.
He also pointed out that while he has sung many devotional songs, nobody talks about them. Diljit said, “It’s easy to misinterpret my songs. I don’t drink, and I’ve never promoted alcohol.
Many Bollywood stars promote alcohol, but I don’t. Don’t mess with me, I perform and leave. Why target me? If all states become dry states, I won’t sing about alcohol anymore.
Alcohol generates massive revenue. Even during Covid-19, wine shops were open while everything else was shut”.
