Vidya Balan’s performance in Parineeta astounded everyone, but did you know that she wasn’t the original pick to play Lolita in the film? Who then was?
One of the best films produced in Hindi cinema, Parineeta is a cult favourite. But the movie had two additional debuting geniuses. Both Vidya Balan and filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar made their debuts with the movie. Do you realise that Aishwarya Rai, not Vidya, was originally considered for the role of Lolita in the movie? In a past interview, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra revealed the information.
Before Parineeta, Vidya and Pradeep Sarkar had produced a number of music videos. Sarkar made Vidya her ideal debut promise at that time. while she was having trouble and was being rejected. Before playing Lolita, Vidya even worked on the Bengali film Bhalo Theko, becoming one of the best stars of the industry
According to the citation, “Vidya Balan previously acknowledged that she and Palash Sen co-starred in the classic Euphoria song Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali with Pradeep Sarkar. That was my video with Pradeep Sarkar, the actress admitted. He and I had collaborated on a few advertisements, but it wasn’t until the video that he learned he could shape me as he pleased. Shantanu Moitra’s music indicated that Balan’s audition count was over 75, and she was tested for the movie for more than six months.
In a Simi Garewal interview, Vidya herself stated, “Dada was convinced I was Lolita, Mr. Chopra wasn’t.” For the first time, Vidhu Vinod Chopra admitted that Aishwarya Rai was his first choice for the role in a press interview in 2012. He admitted, “I immediately thought of a face like Aishwarya Rai when we thought of Parineeta. The heroine needs to be larger because the character of the female is similar to two men falling in love with her. However, when the filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar told me about Vidya, I said, “Let me see what she can do.” But then we tested and tried her (Vidya), and she passed it,” he stated.
Vidya Balan was finally cast in the movie. She thoroughly earned the role of Lolita because she rocked her audition. Even the lead actor, Saif Ali Khan, admitted in one of the interviews, as reported by Filmibeat, that he would have chosen Aish over a fresh actor. He claimed, “When I think back and picture Parineeta, I see Vidya Balan in addition to myself. She is amazing in my opinion. As opposed to Vidya, I would have chosen Ash (Aishwarya Rai). I won’t be a prude and say that I immediately recognised her as tomorrow’s super star; that wasn’t my initial assumption.
Sanjay Dutt and Dia Mirza made cameo appearances in the movie Parineeta, which featured Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan in the key roles. Rekha had a lovely cameo appearance in the movie, and Raima Sen provided assistance.
