Read on to find out how Sonu Nigam scored his fellow musicians, including AR Rahman and Mika Singh, out of 10.
One of the best actors Bollywood has ever produced is Sonu Nigam. He frequently receives favourable comparisons to illustrious vocalists like Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, and others. While he has a number of hits and lovely songs to his credit, he is also one of the most divisive musicians in the business who is not afraid to stir up trouble. He does it all, from criticising T-Series to attacking reality shows like Indian Idol.
The artist is renowned for being rather impolite and blunt with his opinions. He once gave harsh ratings to other Bollywood singers.
What Sonu Nigam believed of himself as a singer and about his contemporaries was openly discussed. A short clip of the Dil Se singer rating other musicians on the strength of their singing on a scale of one to 10 was posted on the Instagram page Sonunigamscafe. Benny Dayal received a 4, Atif Aslam a 4, Arijit Singh a 7, and Armaan Malik a 5.
Surprisingly, he gave singer AR Rahman a 2 out of 10. It’s interesting to note that he has performed on several hit songs for the Grammy Award–winning composer, including Saathiya, Ishq Bina (Taal), Satrangi Re (Dil Se), and others. Sonu Nigam most likely admires Rahman as a composer and less so as a singer. Additionally, he gave Mika Singh a score of 1, and we are in awe of his candour.
After all was said and done, Sonu gave himself a 5 out of 10, which surprised many online users. While some people supported him, others believed his assessments were absolutely inaccurate. What they wrote in the comments is as follows.
“He thinks Arijit is better than him?”
“He is very straight forward.. but he can’t rate himself as 5”
“That strict teacher in every school”
“Mika singh ko 1 b ni dena tha”
“Hey sonu what’s colour of your oscar award??”
“Finally someone called it out, AR rehman is soo overated”
