With the release of the movie “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere” in 1960, the celebrity made his acting debut. With his performances in films like “Phool Aur Patthar” (1966), “Mera Gaon Mera Desh” (1970), and “Sholay” (1975), he swiftly gained notoriety. He was well renowned for having tough appearance, having a masculine demeanour, and having a powerful emotional range.

Dharmendra once even shared the story behind his first salary. He narrated the incident on a TV show ‘Dance Deewane’ and said, “I was called in the producer’s cabin. There were three cabins, and I sat in the middle one. I was contemplating, how much would they pay me for the film. Each of them took out Rs 17 from their pockets, there were three of them, and they offered me Rs 51. I still consider that amount lucky for me!”

That sum must have been fortunate for the Macho man, as you cannot even begin to guess how much his pay has increased over the past 63 years! According to speculations, Dharmendra received 1.5 crores for his performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. That is unquestionably an increase from his initial income of “shagun ke ikyaawan rupaye” of about 29,410,764%!

Success should be defined in this way! In fact, it is so much that it begs the question of how long hard work can keep you on the road to success. These 1.5 crores are interestingly peanuts in comparison to the prices Dharmendra demanded for his comeback films Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana, according to a GQ story. After his comeback and a clearly defined successful inning, according to GQ, the actor used to demand roughly 5 crores every picture.
