Vijay Deverakonda’s market his going downhill, courtesy the poor performance of his last couple of films. After the success of Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy, he became a commercial hero in Geetha Govindam. Fortunately, the film turned out to be a massive hit catapulting him to a different level. Post the success of Geetha Govindam, the actor is yet to score a hit. However, he wanted to move to the next level in his career and increased his remuneration to Rs 7 to 10 crore. Reportedly, he had demanded a salary of Rs 10 crore from producer KS Rama Rao of Mythri Movie Makers for World Famous Lover.
Unfortunately, World Famous Lover, directed by Kranthi Madhav, ended up as a damp squib at the box office. According to sources, Rama Rao did not have the plan to make the film on such a big scale. But, he did it based on the confidence he had in Vijay Deverakonda. Based on the film’s poor theatrical run, the producer is said to have asked Vijay Deverakonda to return his salary. If sources are believed to be true, he has given back half of his salary already.
