Can you imagine a 21 year old directing a full length feature with aplomb technical brilliance and solid logic in story telling. Karthik Naren achieved the very thing with his Dhruvangal Pathinaaru – D16. The movie with Rahman as the lead actor released in December and slowly found it’s audience at the Multiplexes and turned out to be a solid profitable venture announcing the arrival of a filmmaker in Karthik. Even the bigwigs of the critic world have praised the film and the film was majorly supported by AR Rahman and Gautam Menon for being an unique thriller ever to made on Tamil screen. These kind of controlled budget experiments showcased the talent of youngsters to the world and also gave talents like Karthik Subbaraj earlier.
Many of the celebrities welcomed such a talent and Karthik is now in talks with many big production houses to direct a film. This thriller was supposed to be remade in Telugu by Chadalavada Padmavathi as producer. But none of the directors and actors have been convinced to start the project and with many of them already beng part of their own prior commitments the production team has decided to go ahead by dubbing the movie in Telugu than remaking it. May be with how the remakes are being made these days in Telugu Film Industry, this is a blessing in disguise for the movie.
