Dhanush expressed deep disappointment and pain over the unauthorized re-release of his film Raanjhanaa which now features an AI altered climax.
The actor criticized the change saying it removed the soul of the true story. Despite his clear objections the concerned parties went ahead with the edit.
In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Dhanush said, “This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago. The alternate ending has stripped it of its essence”.
“The use of AI in altering films is deeply worrying and sets a dangerous trend for art and artists”. He also called for strict rules to prevent such practices in the future.
Raanjhanaa was a commercial success. In the original ending Dhanush character dies but in the new version he survives which changes the entire impact of the story.
