Multi-starrers are now the flavour of the season in Telugu Cinema. It used to be a regular feature of our films with most of the films produced either being ensembles or mythological films that needed more than one popular star to be part of them. The trend continued further till late 1980’s, when single hero films dominated and ensembles have reduced further with hero been given the task of doing everything. This worked for major portion of time, but multi-starrers have returned in full flow.
Mahesh and Venkatesh started the recent trend with Seethamma Vakitlo Srimalle Chettu and Pawan Kalyan also did Gopala Gopala with Venkatesh. Now, Venkatesh is doing F2 and Venky Mama, which are multi-starrers with Varun Tej and Naga Chaitanya, respectively. Nagarjuna also accepted one multi-starrer with Nani, where he plays Don, Deva and Nani, a doctor, Das.
Devdas starring Akkineni Nagarjuna and Nani with Akanksha Singh, Rashmika Mandanna in the direction of Sriram Adittya is progressing as expected. Nagarjuna has completed shooting for more than 70% of his part and by August end, the complete shoot will be wrapped up. The movie release date has been fixed to be 27th September, it seems. Mani Sharma is composing music and Ashwin Dutt is producing the film.
