Rama Rajamouli started designing for movies, especially for Rajamouli films from Magadheera extensively and she even received awards for her work. She talked about designing for Bahubali franchise and the five years of work that had to put in for realising the dream! She shared the hardships that the team had to go through to get the requirements ready on time and as per requirements. On the sets, they never tried to create a last minute ruckus and Rajamouli being a tough task master always wanted what he needed to show on screen and his appreciation mattered the most she said.
Once he criticised a junior artist’s costume and Rama felt bad hearing criticism from him. He just said, “What color is that?” And Rama felt hurt for that as per her own admission. She said Rajamouli tells what he needs very clearly and expects everyone to get it right, otherwise even he doesn’t shout at you his facial expressions are quite enough to understand how uncomfortable he is. She also shared that Prabhas used to call her ‘Bangaram’ on sets and she enjoys that name for herself.
She credited Valli for such smooth progress of the shoot and said she handled more than anyone on her shoulders. She shared that many memories were made under a tent in the shooting place where all 25 off the crew and cast members used to come together and she also said that she and Rajamouli had to stay in the studio due to work pressure and their daughter used to go to school and come back from the studio itself. She also shared that they created a big clothing unit to dye the clothes and also brought in many shoe weavers to knit all the ornaments made using leathers. Even though they used fibers, to make it easy for actors they needed to use leather more than ever. Well, Bahubali deserves a National Award for all the fashion designing, what do you say?
