A new report has revealed that actress Karisma Kapoor, with help from her late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur, had planned to secure Portuguese citizenship for herself and her two children, Samaira and Kiaan.
Documents and WhatsApp chats submitted to the Delhi High Court suggest that Sunjay was guiding them through the process. Since India does not allow dual citizenship, Karisma would have had to give up her Indian passport.
The matter has come up in the middle of the ongoing legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s massive Rs 30,000 crore property.
Reports earlier claimed that Sunjay’s third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, had cut Karisma’s kids out of the will. While Sunjay had left assets worth Rs 1900 crore for his children, they now allege that Priya forged the will to gain full control.
The Delhi High Court has issued notices and set the next hearing for October 9. Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur is also contesting her share.
