Deepika Padukone was also shamed on the Internet after she attended a students’ demonstration against the revised Citizenship Act at Jawaharlal Nehru University in January 2020. The actress remained silent throughout the protest while there, but her sheer presence in the nation generated quite a stir.
For those who are unaware, Deepika Padukone first encountered politics in 2018 during the promotion of her film Padmaavat. In the film, the actress played the part of Queen Padmavati. A group allegedly demanded that several scenes of the movie be changed because they disrespected Rajputs’ feelings. Additionally, Padmaavat was substituted for Padmavati as the film’s title.
