Dear Comrade

Vijay Devarakonda is a big star now and is releasing his new movie Dear Comrade in four languages which shows his big craze. Read on to see if his film has all that in it to become a box office hit.

Story: Bobby played by Vijay Devarakonda is a student leader who falls flat for a cricket played called Lilly played by Rashmika. Their love story taken an ugly turn because of Bobby’s involvement in college politics. Things become even worse when Rashmika gets involved in the casting couch controversy in her cricket selection. The crux of the film is as to how Bobby clears his differences with Lilly and helps her out in her life.

Performances: Rashmika outshines Vijay Devarakonda in Dear Comrade with her looks and performance. She as the naive Lilly is spot on and gives career best. The entire second half belongs to Rashmika and her performance during this time is award winning.

Vijay Devarakonda does not play it to the galleries and does what is required of the character. He lets Rashmika shine and allows her to take center stage. Vijay is good in the climax of the film and shares a good chemistry with the heroine. The rest of the cast is good as the guys who played the heroes friends are very good.

Positives:

Rashmika
Vijay Devarakonda
Lead pair chemistry
Social message

Negatives:

Slow pace
Routine Story

Analysis: The film has a old plot and has been a contemporary touch with the Metoo episode. Director Bharat Kamma starts the film well in the first half as he establishes the lead pair and their priorities in the best way possible. But he narrates it in a way too slow manner which can let down on many of the audience.

The first half is a love story and the second half is the actual film. The casting couch episode looks novel but is showcased in the same old routine manner. But what builds up after that is very good as the emotional climax makes matters work for the film.

The film handles romance in a mature way. There is no sugar candy romance and good comedy that many will expect it to be. You need to travel with the characters to enjoy this film. Once you do that it won’t feel slow or boring.

Rating: 2/5
