Dayaa is the latest web series from Hotstar that is now streaming. Directed by Pavan Sadineni, this show has JD Chakravarthy, Eesha Rebba, and Ramya Nambeesan in lead roles. Read our review here.

Story: Dayaa(JD Chakravarthy) is a freezer van driver who is making ends meet by hook or crook. One fine day, he finds a dead body in his van and hell breaks out loose. He tries to dispose of the body but comes to know that the body is of a renowned crime journalist(Ramya Nambeesan). Things become even more chaotic when an entire nexus gets activated after this murder. How will Dayaa handle this situation is the story.

Performances: JD Chakravarthy makes his OTT debut with this show and he is pretty good. He sports a new body language and does well in his role as an innocent deaf man. The manner in which JD downplayed his character and comes to his own in the last few episodes is superb. Josh Ravi plays JD’s assistant and he is very good as the hyperactive man. Eesha Rebba gets a simple role but does well in her limitations. Ramya Nambeesan plays the crime journalist and she was amazing and brings depth to the proceedings.

Technicalities: Dayaa has a solid music score. Music director Shravan Bhardwaj breathes life into the proceedings with his amazing background score. The manner in which it elevates the scenes is very good. The screenplay is the biggest asset as the proceedings get enhanced with gripping proceedings. The camera work, locations chosen, and realistic approach are very good in the show. Pavan Sadineni has done a tremendous job as a director as he holds our attention till the end.

Analysis: Dayaa is one series that has just told the story. The twists and the way they were screened created more interest in the second season. Director Pawan Sadineni has shot the scenes in a very detailed manner without leaving out even the smallest things.

The first four episodes will be interesting. From the fifth episode onwards, the format of the series has changed. Twists & Freezer Van Fight raises more curiosity about the story. A murder scene, however, made the body tingle.

In a way, Dayaa is a classy mass series. There is a story in the story. There is heroism in the characterizations. Shortly after the start of the series, Pawan Sadineni was taken into the world of ‘Daya’. What happens next? The curiosity is maintained till the end and one starts rooting for the character to know what happened to him in the end.

JD Chakravarthy has done a wonderful job and he is back in action. The link to the second season is also established in a wonderful manner. The way the story ends and how some key characters are unfinished gives us an idea that the second season will be even more interesting. The best part of the series is that each episode is only half an hour long and this makes the series at a stretch watch for many.

Verdict: Dayaa is one of the most well-made Telugu web series in recent times. It does not beat around the bush and only gives you gripping drama and thrills. Barring the few over-the-top scenes and also pace in one episode, this series is a very entertaining watch for everyone.

Bottom Line – Gripping thriller
