Crazy Kalyanam is one of the four films releasing for Dasara. Starring Anupama Parameswaran, the film created interest with its colorful teaser and trailer. The presence of Naresh, Akhil Raj, and Tharun Bhascker has also raised expectations. Let’s see if the film lives up to them.
Crazy Kalyanam Story: Parvathalu (Naresh) regrets his elder daughter’s marriage to Balaraju (Tharun Bhascker), a drunkard and irresponsible man. Determined to protect his younger daughter Keerthi (Anupama Parameswaran), he fixes her marriage with an NRI groom.
However, Keerthi loves her childhood friend Uday (Akhil Raj) and wants to become independent before marriage. The story is about how Parvathalu reacts to their love and the problems caused by his strict decisions.
Performances: Anupama Parameswaran is a talented actress and gives her best as Keerthi, but the character lacks depth. Naresh gets a better role and delivers a strong performance, especially in the emotional climax, though his Telangana accent feels inconsistent.
Akhil Raj has limited screen time and feels more like a supporting actor than the lead, but he performs well. Balaraju is the film’s special attraction, and he fits the role perfectly. However, the director fails to fully use the character’s comic potential. The rest of the cast is decent.
Technical Aspects: Crazy Kalyanam has an interesting cast but fails to meet expectations. The first half is entertaining, thanks to Naresh and Tharun Bhascker’s comedy, while the second half feels slow and stretched. The climax also feels forced. However, the cinematography, music, and background score are good.
Analysis: Although the film has an emotional core and setup similar to Shatamanam Bhavati, weak execution reduces its overall impact.
Verdict: A promising emotional story that falls short due to weak execution and a dragged second half.
Bottom Line: A good idea wasted through poor execution.
Rating: 2.25/5
