Court Orders Removal Of Objectionable Content Targeting Ananya Panday

The Bombay High Court has come to the rescue of actress Ananya Panday by ordering the removal of objectionable online content that violates her privacy.

The actress had approached the court seeking protection against the unauthorised use of her name, pictures and identity.

She complained that some businesses were using her photographs and creating AI-generated images and videos to promote their products without her permission.

Justice Madhav Jamdar observed that such content could violate her privacy, publicity and dignity rights. The court issued an interim order directing the removal of the objectionable material.

However the protection does not restrict genuine news reports, reviews, criticism, satire, parody or fan created content.
