The Bombay HC has passed an order in favor of Shilpa Shetty in a case related to the misuse of her identity.
The court said the accused not to use or misuse her name, voice or personality in any way without permissions.
Court also ordered that any defamatory or misleading content about her on digital platforms must be removed immediately.
The court said that a public figure’s identity and reputation cannot be used for commercial purposes or manipulated online without consent. It also asked digital platforms to act quickly when such issues are reported.
Reacting to the order, Shetty’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan said the judgment sends a strong message against the misuse of technologies like deepfakes and digital impersonation on the internet.
