The performers’ flawless performances make the Ashutosh Chaturvedi and Pankaj Mavchi-directed film shine.
Story: A close-knit group of friends navigates both their personal and intellectual lives in college together in the story College Romance. The most recent and concluding season discusses how they get through the critical period of their lives when they need to make plans for the future of both their jobs and their relationships.
Performances: Singh, Mehta, Kashyap, Rawat, Gagan Arora, Apoorva Arora, Keshav Sadhna, and Nupur Nagpal play key roles in College Romance.
Each character has developed throughout the course of the four seasons, both in terms of their individual experiences and the actors’ portrayals of them.
Their energetic performances are heartwarming for sure. They portray themselves as naturally as they can.
Similar to the previous three seasons, Apoorva Arora as Naira, Keshav Sadhna as Karan, and Gagan Arora as Bagga all give excellent performances. However, they excel even more in the most recent episode as they gently and superbly carry the new arcs of their characters.
Shreya Mehta, who plays Deepika, keeps the action moving with her quirky charm and one-of-a-kind charisma throughout the entire film.
The few later cast members, such as Jahnvi Rawat, Eklavey Kashyap, and Nupur Nagpal, provide excellent support for the key performers.
Technicalities: The show has an admirable angle in that it discusses LGBTQ+ issues but doesn’t simply do it to address a serious social taboo but also makes it a humorous point, which makes it even more enjoyable to watch and comprehend.
College Romance season 4 features a variety of surprises throughout the episodes, especially at the end, which makes it fulfilling and complete for the show’s ardent followers. It also features humor, drama, and discussions about friendship, love, and some serious and responsible themes.
The clever one-liners from earlier seasons of the show were one of its best features. Yes, there are one-liners in this season as well, but they hardly register and aren’t as funny as they were in the prior ones.
In general, the show fell short of delivering wholesome enjoyment, which could have been accomplished by injecting more humor into the screenplay.
Analysis: Where the third episode left off, the fourth and final season picks off. After completing their last year of college, senior students are now faced with a variety of decisions, including whether to continue their education, launch a business, accept a job offer, or further their relationship.
The show was written and directed in the most natural and realistic manner possible by writer-director team Ashutosh Chaturvedi and Pankaj Mavchi. From Bagga moving to a new city for a new high-paying job and trying to take over the family business, to Karan and Naira choosing to enroll in their dream colleges together, to Naira planning to reveal to her closest friends that she doesn’t want to pursue an MBA and move on with her boyfriend, Bagga, and take over the family business, College Romance allows the young viewers to relate to at least one episode and for one of the characters to confess the same to his girlfriend.
The creators have made an effort to provide their audience with relatable moments in every season.
The characters’ relationship, the uncertainty of what life may throw at you next, the job search process, and—most importantly—the emotional rollercoaster trip everyone had as they said goodbye to college have all been captured beautifully on film and appear to be true to life.
Verdict: The flawless performances by Apoorva Arora, Keshav Sadhna, Gagan Arora, and Shreya Mehta make the Ashutosh Chaturvedi and Pankaj Mavchi film shine in addition to having the ideal amount of humor, drama, and emotion. Over the weekend, you must watch season four of College Romance on SonyLIV.
