Chiru and Balayya bringing back a 90s staple?

Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna have been professional rivals since the beginning of their careers, with both the actors fighting it out on the big screen several times. Despite this, the two actors have maintained only cordial relations with each other off the screen.

Both being contemporaries, there have been several times when the actors featured in films with similar storylines, or in films with similar themes. The same seems to be happening right now, with both the actors about to be seen in movies heavy on sister sentiment. While Chiru will be seen in Bhola Shankar, directed by Meher Ramesh, Balayya will be seen in director Gopichand Malineni’s film, reportedly titled Jai Balayya.

Bhola Shankar is a remake of the Tamil film Vedhalam, in which Keerthy Suresh will be seen as Chiru’s sister. On the other hand, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be seen as Balayya’s sister in Gopichand’s film. It will be interesting to see the actors in movies have a common theme, that too, something that was very popular in the 90s, where six out of ten films had a sister sentiment in some capacity.
