Believing in the story, he became a producer himself and produced and acted in the Tamil movie “Chitta”. The difficulties faced by him to release this film in other languages are at an end The tear-jerking performance at the prerelease event moved everyone. Story: Ishwar (Siddharth) lives with his widow (Anjali Nair) and her daughter (Sahasra Shree) whose husband has died. Carrying the household responsibilities on his shoulders, he happily survives by doing government jobs. The elder brother takes care of his daughter, loves Shakti (Nimisha Sajayan), and regularly takes care of the household needs. This is how Ishwar’s daily life runs. Such a simple person blames Ishwar for misbehaving with an 8-year-old girl. What does Siddharth actually have to do with this misbehavior case? What kind of trouble did he have to suffer because of this accusation? Who misbehaved with the child? Can Ishwar catch him? A “small” film is the answer to such interesting questions.
Performances: Siddharth gives his career-best performance as the victim of a mistake he didn’t commit. Especially the satisfaction seen in Siddharth’s eyes when the blame falls on him and the emotion seen in him in trying to find the person who did the wrong will hook the audience. More importantly, Siddharth’s journey as Ishwar, who misses Behave, his brother’s daughter is very emotional.
Also.. Siddharth’s performance in the scene where he tries to touch his brother’s daughter and she pushes him back reminds Kamal Haasan’s performance in the movie “Mahanadi”. It can be said that Siddharth has once again introduced his level as an actor. Malayalam actress Nimisha Sajayan has to say that this film is an excellent Tamil debut. As a modern woman, her character is perfect. Can’t imagine anyone but her in that role.
Anjali Nair acted very naturally in the role of Vadina. Siddharth-Anjali Nair’s combination scenes & their relationship worked out wonderfully. And Sahasra Sri, who played the role of a child, was able to create a good impact. Due to taking a new girl instead of a known actress for this role, the situations and scenes look very natural. The youngster who played the role of a friend was also impressed by the emotional scenes.
Technicalities: Soul on songs by Dibu Ninan Thomas, and background music by Vishal Chandrasekhar are missing. Especially the beer that comes in the context of the appearance of the child fails to elevate the emotion of the scene. A different level of impact would have been created if more care had been taken in the background music of some of those scenes. It must be said that Balaji Subramaniam’s cinematography is another asset of the film. Starting from the opening scene..
With his camera framings, he was able to make sense of what needed to be said with many dialogues in every scene and context till the ending sequence. Also. The way the camera lighting & tint is set according to the mood of the scene is also good. The care taken in editing is also commendable.
The time taken and the effects used are good to give the audience a chance to understand the depth of the scenes that create the emotion. Director SU Arun Kumar should be mentioned. Even though his previous films Sethupathi is an action film, there is a good thrill
China followed the same format. It was an emotional journey for the audience, who were fixed for the interval, and in the second half, he put a lot of tension. At one point it feels like a thriller movie. Also.. no sugarcoating some despicable things happening in society.. A very straightforward approach is appreciated. On the same occasion, Arun Kumar said what he wanted to say very straightly, without any hint of indecency. He showed his responsibility as a director, a storyteller, and a responsible person towards society.
Analysis: Many films have already come out with the concept of child abuse. Recently “Gargi” also came. But seriously, no one could give a solution. If not. How careful the parents of girls should be is being highlighted. Parents of girls are not.
Verdict: “Chinna” is a must-watch movie for everyone. The more hard-hitting the concept, the more interesting the story. Siddharth’s acting, screenplay & core point is a must-watch movie!
