Chinmayi Sripaada, known for her bold opinions on social media recently shut down a troll who mocked her for the sexual harassment allegations she made against lyricist Vairamuthu in 2018.
The troll commented, “You couldn’t protect yourself but speak for women,” to which Chinmayi replied, “You should vanish like a ghost”.
The exchange began after her husband, director Rahul Ravindran, said in an interview that wearing a mangalsutra is a woman’s choice. Some users misinterpreted it and attacked them online.
Chinmayi defended her husband, saying she worries for women around such angry men. When a troll again brought up her harassment story, she firmly responded, “Why keep repeating it? It’s because of people like you that India is called the ‘rape capital'”.
Despite facing backlash and being expelled from the dubbing union, Chinmayi continues to speak up for women’s rights. She and Rahul Ravindran are parents to twins, Driptah and Sharvas.
