Chaavu Kaburu Challaga Movie Review

  • March 19, 2021 / 04:48 PM IST

Karthikeya who made a stunning debut with Rx100 failed to cash on the craze after delivering three flops in a row. He has now come up with an interesting film Chaavu Kaburu Challaga. Lavanya Tripathi paired up with Karthikeya in this movie. Geetha Arts 2 has backed the project which got released today. Let us see how the movie is.

Story: Basti Balaraju (Karthikeya) is a funeral van driver whose daily routine is to carry out mortal remains to funeral grounds. While his life is going smoothly, he falls for Mallika (Lavanya Tripathi) who has lost her husband. He starts to woo her but fails multiple times. While this is going on, Balaraju’s mother (Amani) starts liking someone else which will bring a huge twist in Balaraju’s love life.

How Balaraju handles the situation forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Karthikeya has given a solid performance as Basti Balaraju. He has owned the massy character and performed to perfection. We will forget about Karthikeya and will only remember the character while watching the movie. Lavanya Tripathi has got quite a different character. It is challenging for any heroine to play such a character. She is cute in a de-glam look as well.

Amani has played yet another challenging and bold role and she comes up well. Anasuya in an item song oozed glamour. Murali Sharma, Srikanth Iyengar played other important characters and they are fine. The rest are OK.

Technicalities: Jakes Bejoy has done a decent job with the music. His songs are fine and the BGM work is very good. The major credit in this department should go to the cinematographer. He has produced stunning visuals and helped the film a lot. The production values are top-notch. Bunny Vasu should be commended for this. Editing is fine.

Director Koushik has taken up an interesting premise and the story has a new angle as well. Though he has done a decent job throughout, he faltered in dealing with emotional sequences. The movie gets off-track in the second half. Had he taken more care about this, Chaavu Kaburu Challaga should be a decent entertainer.

Analysis: Chaavu Kaburu Challaga is a different attempt with entertaining treatment. While the first half goes breezy with many light-hearted moments, the second half remained key and that’s where the film faltered. The treatment goes haywire in this half. The flow of the film bogs down and the impression over the film changes. Nevertheless, Chaavu Kaburu Challaga can be given a go if you have nothing to do to pass time this weekend.

Rating :2/5
