Catherine Teresa has been one of those few heroines in Telugu Cinema, who had everything going but could not transfer that to success on screen. She debuted with Iddarammayilatho, in the direction of Puri Jagannath. The song, Top Lechipoddi from the film, featuring her became a top success, still she did not get many opportunities. She managed to find success with Sarrainodu, last year and that seems to changed her fortune.
She started her career in Malayalam movies and after a considerable success with the movie like, Madras, she started getting more and more offers as a lead actress in Tamil. But her Telugu Cinema prospects haven’t seen any growth. After Sarrainodu, she got noticed by Teja and the director, offered her a villainous role in his Kajal Aggarwal, Rana Daggubati starrer Nene Raju Nene Mantri. She became busy with two Tamil movies as well.
On the other hand, Bellamkonda Srinivas, who had Tamanna Bhatia, shaking legs for his two previous films for item numbers, wanted a change for his next with Boyapati Seenu. The director felt it would be better if he asked his ‘Blockbuster’ star, Anjali but the producer and hero, wanted Catherine to be a part of the song, as it can be something new for the film. While she was busy and non committing on her availability, she got a 60 lakhs offer from the team and she agreed for the song it seems. Even her remuneration for a full time character would be half the amount!
