Multistarrer films existed in a good amount in Tollywood back in the time of NTR, ANR and Krishna, with more than one prominent star often popping up on the big screen. However, multistarrer films slowly started to die out with the rise in commercial cinema, and with the rise of stardom for actors, and their fanbases.
For several decades, there weren’t multistarrer films in Telugu, but things changed once again, with the release of Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, which saw Superstar Mahesh and Victory Venkatesh teaming up together on the big screen. Now, Tollywood has produced the biggest multistarrer yet, in the form of RRR, directed by Rajamouli, which features NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles.
While there have been several multistarrers along the way, none have been as big, which is why now audiences are hoping for more star-studded multistarrers in the future. Even filmmakers are hoping that RRR can bring in a new wave of big stars teaming up for a movie, but it is to be seen whether the actors would be impressed with the stories presented to them.
