Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya, which was released recently, did so among huge expectations. Mega fans were highly enthusiastic about the film, given that it united the father-son duo of Chiru and Charan, for the first time on the big screen, in their respective careers, considering that they have been seen only in guest roles so far in each other’s films.
Directed by Koratala Siva, people expected so much and went into the theatres but were left utterly disappointed when their expectations were not met with in the slightest. The hiked ticket prices did nothing to salvage the theatrical run of the film, which put the distributors and the buyers in a tricky situation. To bail them out, the makers of Acharya struck a deal with Amazon Prime for an early streaming date. The film is now all set to be streaming oN Amazon Prime from tomorrow, May 20th.
With several films which ended up as duds in theatres, the makers, and even Mega fans, are said to be hoping that the film would attract good attention on the OTT platform. Here’s hoping that Acharya will be able to flip the tables on OTT.
