2.0 movie ended the first week all over with Rs. 450 plus gross and according to producers, Lyca Productions, it crossed 500 crores Worldwide. In Telugu states, it has to cross 72 crores number to achieve break-even and earn a profit.
But that seems a far-off goal as this is not a holiday season but exam season that too before a huge holiday season. People would be looking to save more at this time of the year for a grand celebration during New Year’s and Sankranthi.
The movie got an advantage in three day holiday weekend with polling day falling on Friday, in Telangana. As the people will have time after voting, during the evening they can go to films to catch up the movie and families might look at it as an opportunity to let themselves watch a movie as a respite from constant pressure.
There is a problem though, making things tough for the biggie, three films are releasing on Friday, the 7th December. Movies like Kavacham, Next Enti and Subramanyapuram are looking to gain advantage and stay in the theaters till big holiday season kick-in on 21st December.
If none of the releases are able to find positive WOM, 2.0 will have an advantage and if one of them find enough WOM, still it will have a big advantage being a huge entertainer from big names like Shankar and Rajnikanth with the even bigger budget and VFX. But the problem arises if three get positive WOM. Let’s see, what will be the case, in the next 24 hours.
