83 Trailer Review: Emotional and inspiring

The theatrical trailer for star actor-director duo Ranveer Singh and Kabir Khan’s sports drama, 83, drops this morning. While Ranveer is seen as former cricketer Kapil Dev, the trailer majorly revolves around the Indian cricket team and its first-ever World Cup victory in 1983 by beating the reigning champions, West Indies.

The 4 minutes promo begins with the Indian team faltering on the field and Ranveer Singh aka Kapil Dev declares at the press conference that they( Team India) are ‘Here to win’ keeping sniggers from the reporters in mind. Later, a conversation scene between Kapil Dev and the team manager PR Man Singh(Pankaj Tripathi) that explores the importance of team India winning the World Cup will be showcased. Eventually, the promo showcases the stunning comeback of the Indian team with Kalip Dev hitting back to back sixes smashing windscreens of cars and breaking dressing room windows. On the whole, 83 trailer has emotional content and showcases the struggle of team India in winning the first-ever World Cup in 1983.

While Deepika Padukone plays the role of Kapil Dev’s wife as Romi Dev, a supporting life partner, other artists like Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Saqib Saleem perfectly fit in their respective roles. Vishnu Induri bankrolled the movie in association with Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainments. The film is slated to hit the screens in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages simultaneously on December 24th.
