Superstar Mahesh Babu has been sticking to what he knows would work, for the past few years, avoiding experiments at all costs. While it was fun in the beginning, audiences have come to the point of saturation, where they are calling the actor out for being safe and doing the same message-oriented films every single time.
Mahesh’s recent film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which was released on the 12th, is also yet another film that has a message at its core. While it also has some fun and massy elements, they haven’t trumped over the routine formula that the film is based on. As a result, while the opening numbers during the first weekend were more than impressive, the film is struggling to keep it going in the second week.
Overseas, the film has collected just over $2.1M so far and needs a lot more to reach the break-even point. The same is the case in the domestic market as well, with the film needing a lot more than what it’s doing at the box office right now. The makers are hoping that the film will pick up after the exams for inter students conclude, but it is to be seen how much of an impact that would really be able to make for the film.
