Butta Bomma starring Anikha Surendran, Arjun Das and Surya Vashistta in the key roles had a theatrical release today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: The film starts at a remote village near Aakaru valley. Being elder daughter in a middle-class family, Satya( Anikha Surendran) leads a restricted life. As an unexpected scenario, Satya dials a wrong number that will be answered by a autorickshaw driver named Murali ( Surya Vashistta). Eventually, Satya falls for Murali and decides to meet him in Vizag. This is the time, a jobless guy RK( Arjun Das) enters the scene. What is the connecting element between RK and Murali? Will RK interfere in the love story of Murali and Satya? How will the proceedings further lead to, forms the key aspect.

Performances: Child artist Anikha turned lead actress with Butta Bomma. Her appearance and appealing facial expressions are major plus for the film. Looks-wise, Anikha is cute and did her part nicely. Anikha perfectly fitted in village girl role.

Surya Vashistta is cool in his role as a autorickshaw driver. He has a charming face and good voice. Though the film is his debut, Surya tried to pull off the role with his acting skills.

Khaidi fame Arjun Das has amazing screen presence. His look and subtle acting in the given serious role adds weightage to the second half proceedings. The confrontation scenes between Arjun Das and Surya are executed decently.

Other padding artists such as Navya Swamy, Narra Srinivas, Vakeel Saab fame Lirisha among others are fine in their respective roles.

Technicalities: Gopi Sundar’s songs are situational and passable on screen. His background score works in parts during the key second half proceedings.

The cinematography by Vamsi Patchipulusu is good as he showcased the village atmosphere and nature locations in and around Aakaru nicely. Editing by Naveen Nooli is okay but it could have been even better. He would have chopped off close to ten minutes in the first half.

The production values for this limited budget movie is good. Other technical team members did their part perfectly.

Analysis: Shouree Chandrasekhar T Ramesh directs Butta Bomma. He did his part neatly without distrubing the perfectly packed script.

Ganesh Ravuri provided screenplay and dialogues for the film. Though the scene order during the first half look a bit slow-paced, the film picks up during the second half and has an engaging narrative.

Instead of wasting so much time on the heroine related episodes in the first half, the team would have focused on inserting some comedy moments to make things more appealing. To summerize, Butta Bomma is a feel-good film that has a fresh point which is narrated nicely.

Verdict: Impresses!
