Here comes a piece of good news for all Superstar Rajinikanth fans as the senior star has been honoured with the highest achievement Dadasaheb Phalke award for the year 2019. Confirming the same, Prakash Javadekar, the union minister for Information and Broadcasting has revealed the news on his official Twitter handle this morning.
In his tweet, Prakash Javadekar wrote: “Happy to announce #Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic”. Prakash Javadekar also thanked the Jury members Asha Bhosale, Subhash Ghai, Shankar Mahadevan among others for nominating Rajinikanth for the prestigious award.
Started his career with the Tamil film titled, Apoorva Raagangal under the direction of legendary director K Balachander, Rajinikanth has been continuing the film journey for more than 4 decades.
Dadasaheb Phalke award is considered the highest honour for an artiste in Indian cinema and it comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of ₹10,00,000. The presentation ceremony is expected to take place in the next couple of months.
