‘Brahmaputra’ the Next Mega hit ?

After penning the screenplays for blockbusters like RRR, Baahubali, and others, screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad is prepared to begin work on his next venture.

The story of the 17th-century general Lachit Borphukan is being brought to life by ‘RRR’ scriptwriter, film director, and Rajya Sabha MP Vijayendra Prasad in a book titled ‘Brahmaputra: The Ahom Son Rises (Book 1)’ after being revived by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The father of S.S. Rajamouli and a renowned blockbuster screenwriter, Kulpreet Yadav is a former navy officer who now writes spy novels. Together, they created the book that will be published on May 30 by HarperCollins Publishers India.

Vijayendra Prasad will write the plot, which combines romance and action. It begins with Lachit falling in love with Princess Padmini, the daughter of Swargadeo Jayadhwaj Singha, the monarch of the Ahom empire. When the monarch learns about the relationship, he exiles Lachit from the nation’s capital, Jorhat.

A few days later, Aurangzeb’s armies raid the city of Ahom, forcing the king to sign a peace deal giving the Mughals partial sovereignty of his realm. The treaty’s provisions humiliate Lachit and Prince Chakradhwaj, who is his best friend.

A prince from a nation that is allied with the Ahoms soon causes more problems for them when he tricks other minor kings into attacking Jorhat. This war, which is being fought as Lachit and Prince Chakradhwaj defend the city, has the potential to alter the course of the Ahom kingdom for all time.

Can Lachit, Prince Chakradhwaj, and Princess Padmini defeat the rebels and free themselves from the Mughal yoke in order to restore the honour of the Ahoms? Besides “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi,” the multi-award-winning writer of the two “Baahubali” films also wrote this novella.

Kulpreet Yadav, a coworker of Prasad’s, is a graduate of the Naval Officers’ Academy who served in the military for twenty years and successfully oversaw the command of three ships.

Since leaving the Indian Coast Guard in 2014, he has written novels in a variety of subjects, including real crime, military history, and espionage. ‘The Battle of Rezang La’ (Penguin, 2021) is his most recent book, and he resides in Mumbai.
