Director Boyapati Sreenu recently faced a setback with his film “Skanda,” starring Ram Pothineni, as it failed to generate profits despite initial expectations. With no Tier 1 Heroes available due to their prior commitments and the failure of “Skanda,” Boyapati’s best option appears to be an “Akhanda” sequel.
Collaborating with Tier 1 Heroes is practically impossible due to their busy schedules. Suriya, who was once rumored to work with Boyapati, is committed to multiple projects. He’s currently involved in “Kanguva” and has confirmed projects with Sudha Kongara, Vetrimaaran, and Raykesh Omprakash Mehra for “Karna.”
Even if “Kanguva” becomes a blockbuster, it will have multiple parts, making it challenging to allocate dates for Boyapati. Suriya also requires a significant number of call sheets. Therefore, the most practical option for Boyapati Sreenu now seems to be “Akhanda 2.”
Balakrishna, who will move on to Bobby’s film after “Bhagavanth Kesari,” has not committed to any other project. It’s likely that he will begin his next project in the summer of 2024, after Bobby’s film shoot is completed. Boyapati will also need time for script and pre-production work. Reuniting for a sequel in Summer 2024 could create significant buzz, making it the best choice for Boyapati Sreenu.
