The anticipated Tamil Diwali releases, “Japan” and “Jigarthanda Double X,” have encountered a disappointing start with their advance bookings in Tamil Nadu and Telugu States. Despite the significant expectations surrounding these films, their promotional content, including songs and promos, failed to generate the desired buzz, potentially exacerbated by the pre-festival period.
“Japan,” Karthi’s 25th film, directed by Raju Murugan, falls into the heist comedy genre and holds a U/A certificate from the CBFC. The ensemble cast includes Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, KS Ravikumar, and more, alongside Karthi.
On the other hand, “Jigarthanda Double X” serves as a sequel to the 2014 film “Jigarthanda,” directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film has also obtained a U/A certificate from the CBFC and is expected to run for 2 hours and 52 minutes.
To gain momentum and succeed at the box office, both films will rely heavily on the positive word of mouth reviews, as their advance bookings hint at a lower than expected opening in various areas. Nonetheless, it’s worth noting that the government granted permission for extra screenings of these films in Tamil Nadu, which may offer a glimmer of hope for their commercial prospects.
