“Bookie” is a romantic film about modern love and relationships, produced, composed, and edited by Vijay Antony. Directed by debutant Ganesh Chandra, the film stars Ajay and Dhanusha. It failed to impress in Tamil and is now released in Telugu. Let’s find out did it reach Telugu audience.

Bookie Story: Kailash (Ajay Dhishan) and Aasha (Dhanusha) end their six-year relationship after a major fight. Though months pass, they struggle to move on emotionally. The film follows how they handle the breakup and confront their egos to find closure or reunite.

Performances: Ajay Dhishan still needs to improve as an actor. It is good that he chose to dub for himself, but clarity in dialogue delivery is important. He should focus on this in his next film.

Dhanusha tries to impress with a cute performance, and her role feels quite relatable. Sunil and Manchu Lakshmi’s characters seem forced into the story. Vijay Antony’s special appearance does not add much value to the film.

Technical Aspects: Writer Puthiya Parithi’s story is not fully understood by director Ganesh Chandra. While the comedy scenes are decent, he fails to effectively present the Gen Z mindset. A few scenes about modern relationships and different sexualities work, but the film lacks strong emotional moments. Even the father sentiment track does not connect well.

Overall, the direction is disappointing. Vijay Antony’s editing and songs do not suit the film’s tone, and the lack of fresh style and impactful music further weakens the experience.

Analysis: Love and breakups are universal emotions, and films like Premalu and Love Today connected well with audiences. But “Bookie” lacks that relatability, and the Telugu dubbing is unimpressive, making it just another routine love entertainer.

Verdict: Relatable concept, but weak narration, poor emotional depth, and unimpressive presentation make it a routine love drama.

Bottom Line: A modern love story that feels outdated.
