Boney Kapoor talks about facing losses as Producer; is Maidaan already a flop?

Boney Kapoor, a producer, can’t sleep at night because of his upcoming movie Maidaan. Ajay Devgn plays the lead in the movie.

Maidaan, an upcoming sports drama starring Ajay Devgn, is having financial issues. The Boney Kapoor-produced movie was meant to debut alongside RRR last year, but as of right now, not even the teaser has been released. In a recent interview, film producer Boney Kapoor discussed the tumultuous production of his movie, which was almost finished in 2019 but was continually delayed by pandemics and natural disasters.

Boney Kapoor disclosed that significant production delays have increased the film’s budget. The producer admitted that he had to make rent payments on a plot of land that he had initially leased for only six months. Boney further claimed that despite suffering significant losses, he has not received a “satisfactory insurance amount.”

I never lose motivation. I slay the bull, and now I can sleep soundly. On the other hand, Maidaan has been keeping me up lately. But for the first time in my life, I feel like I have no control over the issue,” the TJMM actor stated in a New Indian interview.

The producer of Valmai went on to say that he had rented a sizable football pitch and engaged a sizable team for the production, saying, “We went through a lot. We used natural turf to create a whole football pitch. Not artificial turf, as there wasn’t any of that back in the 1950s and 1960s. We set up a few stands and utilised green screens. The film’s costs increased as a result of the set’s more than three-year presence. We haven’t gone over budget, but we had to cover the ground’s rent, the curators’ salaries, and ground upkeep. Every day, we had a team of roughly 500–600 workers. The meal was catered by Taj. We had two or three ambulances on set…

When a hurricane hit the area and the set had to be rebuilt, things got even worse for the Maidaan crew. “All these catastrophes and the pandemic, this created a major, major (problem),” Boney Kapoor said in closing. And regrettably, there is no insurance… We have nothing right now.

Six months have passed since the release of the movie’s teaser.
