It’s no secret that the Hindi audience has become more accepting of South content, with various South movies performing extremely well in the north, both theatrically, and on YouTube as well. As a result, Bollywood filmmakers have lined up the remakes of South movies, especially of Telugu movies, and are looking at Telugu directors to helm them.
Karan Johar has already teamed up with director Puri Jagannath for Liger, and if the film turns out to be a success, then this producer-director duo, along with Liger’s actor Vijay Deverakonda, will reunite for another pan-Indian film. On the other hand, it is also known that director Harish Shankar has been brought on board to direct the Hindi version of Duvvada Jagannatham (DJ), with Siddarth Malhotra in the lead role.
Producers Allu Aravind and Dil Raju have already entered Bollywood, and are producing remakes of Telugu movies. On the whole, looks as though Bollywood is about to be dominated by Telugu directors very soon.
