Dil Raju has received relief in the long-running copyright dispute involving his 2011 film Mr Perfect. The Supreme Court has refused to remove the stay on the trial court proceedings so the case will remain on hold for now. The dispute began in 2017 when writer Shyamala Rani alleged that the film’s story was copied from her novel Naa Manasu Korindi. The filmmakers have denied the allegations. The Telangana HC had earlier cancelled the cheating related case but allowed the copyright issue to continue. Dil Raju then approached the Supreme Court which stayed the trial proceedings in February 2025 while examining the limitation issue. The complainant later requested that the stay be removed but the Supreme Court rejected the plea.
