Rajnikanth, the famous Superstar from South India who enjoys a global recognition is coming with a high budget extravaganza with VFX master story teller, Shankar. The third film in the combination of the actor and director, after Shivaji and Robo is the continuation to the story of Robo/ Enthiran with bigger stakes and huge star cast. While we can see Rajni playing all the three roles he essayed in the original, we will get to see Akshay Kumar playing as a crow man, a mad scientist in the film. The first look featuring him has been released through Twitter by Rajnikanth, Shankar and 2.0 producers and team. The first look launch of Rajni as Robo Chitti and 2.0 will be released in a grand event at YRF studios on November 20th.
Shah Rukh Khan is invited to the event and the star accepted to grace the event as he admitted to be a huge fan of Rajni and has a cordial relation with Shankar, contrary to media reports. The film is touted to be made on a 350 crores budget never ever even heard about. Even though some claim this to be a gimmick, the producers are tight lipped on the actual budget spent on the movie. But Lyca Productions, are not backing out from promoting the film in a big way and an amount of 40 crores as been set aside for the promotions only. As the first part of it, Rs. 6 crores have been spent on the first look launch event only.
There is a chance of either Karan Johar or YRF distributing the movie overseas and North India and the clarity on the issue is expected at the event. There will be new merchandise releasing with characters as well. Rajni delivered an Industry Hit in Tamil with Kabali even though the film was not universally accepted. Distributors still claim to have lost some money, but it is minimal and due to huge pre release business and the actor, already announced Kabali 2 in Dhanush production with Pa. Ranjit as director. If a below average film was able to become such a huge hit, what will a Blockbuster collect? Hopefully, 2.0 will answer the question next Diwali!
