Eetha, one of the most awaited films of 2026 is set to release in theatres on August 28th. The biopic stars Shraddha Kapoor as legendary Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
Reports say Shraddha has been paid Rs. 15 crore for the film making it one of her highest paid projects.
However the film has landed in controversy after the NCP’s Film and Cultural Department objected to the title Eetha, saying it should instead be named Vitha or Vithabai to better honor the iconic artist.
Vithabai’s family has also supported the demand. Actor Anant V. Joshi said the title was chosen to avoid future complications and stressed that the makers have always acknowledged Vithabai’s life story.
The film also stars Randeep Hooda and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub.
