In a major update for Indian cinema, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has been appointed as the Festival Director for the 57th International Film Festival of India.
This decision was taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and recognizing his long association with the festival.
Gowariker has been connected with IFFI for many years. He first attended it decades ago and later played key roles including serving as Jury President for International Cinema in 2024. His journey shows his deep bond with the festival.
Sharing his thoughts he said he feels very much proud and honored to take up this responsibility. He added that continuing the legacy built over decades is a big responsibility.
Started in 1952, IFFI is one of Asia’s top film festivals, and this edition is expected to grow even bigger under his leadership.
