Big Change In Telangana Theatre Business
Multiplexes across India have been following a percentage-based revenue sharing system with producers for a long time. However in Hyderabad many single-screen theatres were still running on the old rental model.
Now, due to increasing costs and changing trends in film distribution, Telangana exhibitors have decided to shift to a percentage-based system from April 3, 2026.
Key distributors and exhibitors like Suniel Narang, Shirish Reddy and Bobby have supported this decision and informed the Film Chamber.
But Sashidhar Reddy of Mythri Movie Makers did not agree, so his theatres have opted out.
Currently, 23 single-screen theatres in Hyderabad have adopted the new model. As per the agreement revenue will be shared as 60% in week one, 50% in week two and 40% in week three.
