Bhola Shankar is Chiranjeevi’s latest film which has been directed by Meher Ramesh. The film has Keerthy Suresh and Tamannah as the main leads and has been released today. Read our review here.

Story: Shankar(Chiranjeevi) and his sister Maha(Keerthy Suresh) land in Kolkatta for the latter’s education. After a turnaround of events, Shankar gets embroiled in a human trafficking mafia and starts killing them one after the other. This crazy avatar of Shankar brings a shock and takes the film into a flashback. Who is this Shankar and what is his past? That forms the story of Bhola Shankar.

Performances: Chiranjeevi is the only solace of the film and does his act in a decent manner. But the direction of Maher Ramesh is so bad that even he looks out of place in many areas. Keerthy Suresh is neat in her role and brings some depth to the proceedings. But as the storyline is outdated, even she cannot do anything. Tamannah is over the top and does not create any interest in the proceedings. Sreemukhi is decent in her role but the others were disappointing. There are a host of comedians in the film but they did not evoke proper comedy.

Technicalities: One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the music by Mahati Swara Sagar. He disappoints big time and taking him for such a big film was a mistake on behalf of the makers. The storyline is outdated and the changes done also do not make any difference. The camerawork is decent but the editing is not as the first half goes on forever in the film. Dances are bad and not in the Chiru range. Fights have been composed well and the dialogues are just about okay and nothing great.

Analysis: Bhola Shankar is the remake of the Ajith Starrer Vedhalam and has been brutally killed by Meher Ramesh. The manner in which Meher has narrated a film makes the fans angry. Right from the first frame, there is absolutely nothing new in this film to showcase. The proceedings are so routine that will make you go to sleep. The first half of the film takes forever to finish and drags on and on.

The film had scope for very good emotions but that is not the case as the brother-sister bond does not come across at all. The emotions look rushed and Chiranjeevi is out of place in many areas. In the first half, he does not have anything to do and just goes with the flow. The songs are not good and one who comes for songs and fights in Chiranjeevi films will be disappointed big time.

The villains in the film are weak. There is not one scene where you feel the terror of the villains. The ones showcased also do not fit to stand in front of Chiranjeevi. The brother-sister bond is not effective at all and the comedy in the film does not work except for a few scenes. Meher Ramesh was known to give flops and he got a big chance to direct Chiranjeevi. But he has spoilt it with two hands as Bhola Shankar is a mega boring film from him.

Verdict: Overall, Bhola Shankar, like its trailer, is boring, outdated, and has so many routine moments that you might have seen a dime and a dozen. There is not one factor that works here and even hardcore fans will be disappointed big time.

Bottom Line – Mega Bore
