Gopichand has pinned a lot of hopes on Bhimaa which has been directed by Kannada director Harsha. The film is a cop drama and has music by Ravi Basrur. Malavika Sharma and Priya Bhavani Shankar play the female leads. Read our review here.

Bhimaa Story: Bhimaa(Gopichand) is a jovial police officer with a unique approach to handling criminals. His character poses a significant challenge to Bhavani (played by Mukesh Tiwari), who holds sway over Mahendragiri. Amidst the complexities, Bhimaa finds love in Vidya (Malvika Sharma), a school teacher who deeply respects the medicinal knowledge of Ravindra Varma (Nassar). However, when Ravindra Varma seeks a favor from Bhimaa, it triggers a series of events that drastically alter Bhimaa’s life. To uncover the mysteries that follow and witness Bhimaa’s quest for justice, watch the film in theatres.

Performances: Gopichand takes center stage in ‘Bhimaa,’ delivering an impressive performance in the dual roles of Bhimaa and Rama. His portrayal serves as the backbone of the film, displaying remarkable versatility. Nasser’s strong acting performance shines, providing significant support to the storyline. The supporting cast, comprising Priya Bhavani Shankar and Malavika Sharma bring a good touch to the narrative with their glamor and performance. Raghu Babu and Chammak Chandra are loud in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects: Director A. Harsha adeptly blends fantasy elements into the mass-action drama, enhancing pivotal scenes and climactic moments. However, the weak scripting and presentation of the love subplot serve as a notable drawback, potentially affecting the film’s overall impact. The disjointed screenplay introduces a sense of confusion, warranting attention. Nevertheless, the film excels in visual storytelling, courtesy of Swami J. Gowda’s commendable cinematography, particularly evident in nocturnal sequences. With its high production standards, the movie features decent musical compositions and a resonant background score by Ravi Basrur. Notably, ‘Bhimaa’ fulfills expectations for engaging action sequences in a mass-oriented film.

Analysis: Bhimaa opens with a captivating narrative, delving into the historical setting of ParasuramuniKshetram, and establishing an immediate rapport with the audience. The interval sequence heightens anticipation for the latter part of the story. The movie reaches its pinnacle in the final half-hour, delivering impactful emotions, powerful dialogues, and high-voltage heroism, complemented by meticulously crafted action sequences and a stirring background score by Ravi Basrur.

However, Bhimaa faces challenges in maintaining its momentum as it progresses. The introduction of the love track, while aimed at appealing to a broader audience, is marred by a vulgar design, potentially alienating certain segments of the audience. The film’s first half, dedicated to Bhimaa’s character development, suffers from an excessive focus on the romantic subplot.

The delayed introduction of the main plot and the underdeveloped exploration of secondary characters disrupt the overall narrative flow. Despite these drawbacks, Gopichand’s dynamic performance and the film’s intense concluding segments contribute to a decent cinematic experience. The blend of action and fantasy has been thought of quite well by teh director.

Verdict: Overall, Bhimaa is an action-packed drama with a semi-fantasy element. The last half an hour of the film is superb and Gopichand gives a powerful performance. Action movie lovers will enjoy Bhimaa and the others with a bit of limitations.

Bottom Line – For action movie lovers
