Anubhav Sinha explains how the entertainment business wanted Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Ra One to bomb at the box office and be labelled a flop.
One of the biggest stars in the nation is Shah Rukh Khan. His most recent movie, Pathaan, became a huge hit and broke numerous records. Anubhav Sinha, a filmmaker, asserts that at one point, the entire industry wanted the superstar to fail.
The director is currently preoccupied with marketing his upcoming movie Bheed. Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, and Dia Mirza play crucial parts in it. The filmmaker is renowned for creating harsh, realistic movies with a compelling message of societal change.
In an interview, Anubhav Sinha discussed the radical change in his directorial work, including the movie Ra, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Arjun Rampal. Although the movie is still quite popular, it didn’t do as well financially as was anticipated.
He said, “Today, ‘Ra.One’ is a hit, but when it released, they called it a flop. That was a time when the industry wanted Shah Rukh to fail, because they couldn’t deal with this size. Then ‘Tum Bin 2’ failed. Then I said, ‘No. I’ll make films for the man that I was.’ And then I could revert to that individual. This is roughly the time the Indian political landscape was changing quite dramatically. This is also the time that I started reading again, after like, at least 20 years.”
Bheed, meanwhile, will open in theatres on March 24. The movie, which is co-produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar, is largely shot in Lucknow. Kritika Kamra, Pankaj Kapur, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastav, and Karan Pandit are also featured in Bheed.
Prior to this, the movie’s trailer, which debuted on March 10, received a lot of buzz on social media. The movie centres on how the first shutdown in 2020 will affect migrant labourers and contrasts it with the Partition in 1947. Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, will next be seen in Jawan and Dunki.
