Bhaag Milkha Bhaag Screening to Spread Message of Inclusivity by Including This

On August 6, at a few theatres, the inspirational biographical sports film will be rereleased as a memorial to the late Milkha Singh.

The film directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which turns 10 this month, will be re-released in 30 locations throughout India in a special manner, particularly for those who are deaf or have speech or hearing impairments.

The Farhan Akhtar-starring film, which was released in 2013, followed the inspirational path of the late Milkha Singh, a legendary sprinter from India who triumphed through many heartbreaking challenges to become a world champion, Olympian, and one of the country’s most recognisable athletes.

On August 6, at a few theatres, the inspirational biographical sports film will be rereleased as a memorial to the late Milkha Singh. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag will be screened in PVR theatres for those who are deaf or hard of hearing and will be presented in a specific sign language.

Additionally, the ensemble will pay tribute to the “Flying Sikh” at the special screening for hearing and speech challenged set for July 26 in Mumbai.

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, in collaboration with Rajiv Tandon and P S Bharathi, and under the ROMP Pictures brand, produced Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

According to P S Bharathi, a ROMP Pictures spokesperson, “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a film that is an inspirational tale, and by re-releasing it for the hearing and speech-impaired people on August 6, we would like to serve it as a tribute to ‘The Flying Sikh’ of the nation, late Milkha Singh, who is an inspiration for millions.”

We will convey the movie with a special sign language to make it easily understood by hearing and speech-impaired people,” he added

“Our commitment extends beyond just retelling his extraordinary tale,” said Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom18 Studios, “we have ensured its accessibility to the hearing and speech-impaired, empowering them to draw inspiration from this remarkable story.”

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which was released in 2013, is well-researched with uplifting and energising music, the cast’s outstanding performance, Farhan as Milkha Singh, and prodigious direction by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.

Along with Sonam Kapoor, it also featured Divya Dutta, Meesha Shafi, Pavan Malhotra, Yograj Singh, Art Malik, and Prakash Raj in supporting roles.

The movie was a true masterpiece that deserves to be recognised as a treasure of Indian cinema. It was also a huge box office hit, ranking fifth in 2013 for Bollywood films.
