Karthi is one of the heroes from Kollywood who has got a superb market in the Telugu states. He has got a very huge market with his initial films. Karthi is the younger brother of Suriya, another hero who has got superb craze in Tollywood as well. Karthi has got the knack for picking up interesting films and performance-oriented ones. Karthi’s debut film in Tamil, Paruthiveeran is a sensational success. It has won a national award as well. From his second movie, Karthi’s films were dubbed into Telugu and have seen success. Currently, he has been a complete actor with all scopes of film.
Yuganiki Okkadu is one of the most variety of films in Indian Cinema. Directed by Selva Raghavan, Yuganiki Okkadu stars Andrea, Raima Sen in the female lead roles. The film deals with the historical events that happened between the Cholas and Pandyas. Yuganiki Okkadu has been an adventurous action film. Karthi though just a film old before doing this, has given a stellar performance. Karthi has won the Filmfare award in Tamil for this movie. GV Prakash Kumar is the music director of the movie. The film’s climax gives us the feeling that there will be a climax. However, that hasn’t happened and chances are bleak in the future.
With the moderate success of Yuganiki Okkadu, Karthi has got enough fame in Tollywood and he has dubbed another movie in Telugu. The film Paiyaa has been dubbed into Telugu as Awara. Karthi has dubbed himself for this role and it has been a sensational feat for the actor. Awara is an interesting rom-com from the actor. N Linguswamy is the director of the film. Tamannah has played the female lead of the movie and the chemistry between Karthi and Tamannah is simply superb in the movie. It is the music that has been phenomenal and paved the way for success. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music and all the songs in the movie are superb chartbusters. We cannot point to one bad song in the film and that shows the class of Yuvan Shankar Raja.
With the success of Awara, Karthi’s market has grown in Tollywood and his next movie got dubbed as well. It is the third release of Karthi in 2010 after the two successes Yuganiki Okkadu and Awara. Naa Peru Shiva is directed by Suseenthiran. The film is an intense and gripping film. Naa Peru Shiva is a film that can be divided into two halves. The first half is sensible with cute sequences between Karthi and Kajal Aggarwal. The love scenes came very well. The second half turns serious and the villain’s roles are extremely disturbing. Again the songs in Naa Peru Shiva are huge chartbusters. The youth are extremely connected to the film. Naa Peru Shiva has done well again at the box office.
Shakuni has come as a speed breaker for Karthi in Telugu. The film hasn’t done well but Karthi has done a neat job yet again. The care he takes in dubbing and the way he speaks Telugu accent has brought the audience very close to the Telugu people’s hearts. By this movie, he has created a decent market in the Telugu States. Shankar Dayal has directed the movie which is a political satirical film.
Karthi has faced a few flops with his dubbing films and then came Oopiri. It is the direct Telugu film for Karthi. He has teamed up with Nagarjuna. Vamsi Paidipally is the director of the movie. Oopiri is loosely inspired by the French film The Intouchables. Karthi’s role in Oopiri is extremely impressive and entertaining. He provides enough X factor for the movie in which he has played Seenu. The film has done decently at the box office. Karthi has proved that he can pull off a straight Telugu film as well. The chemistry between Karthi and Nagarjuna worked out extremely well.
Kashmora is another different attempt from Karthi. Gokul has directed this horror movie that has Nayantara and Sree Divya in the female lead roles. Karthi has played a dual role in the movie in which one of those was with negative shades. Santosh Narayanan has composed music for the movie. Though the movie hasn’t performed up to the expectations, Karthi’s performance can be commendable.
Khaki is an extremely crucial film in the career of Karthi. It came after a string of flops. Khaki has been the complete offbeat film. H. Vinoth is the director of the movie and he went after a lot of research for this movie. Karthi’s performance in the role of a Police Officer is superb. Khaki gives the edge of the seat experience. It is inspired by real incidents and goes deep into the life of a sincere Police Officer. Khaki has done well in both Telugu and Tamil. Rakul Preet Singh is the female lead of the movie.
Another different attempt from Karthi. The hero from time to time has been proving the fact that he is a game for interesting and different entertainers. Khaidi is unconventional in many ways. He doesn’t have any heroine in the movie. The film doesn’t have any songs. The entire film happens in a single day. It gives the real edge of the seat experience. The way fights have been designed gives us a thrilling experience. Lokesh Kanagaraj has directed the movie. It is a major hit, especially in Telugu states. The film has collected almost equal share in Telugu and Tamil as well.
Karthi loves Telugu people. On many occasions, he said that he likes Tollywood more though he is born and brought up in Chennai. Karthi is a commendable performer. He immerses us into the movie and we cannot help but admire his acting. He has recently completed the shooting of Sultan and he is also playing one of the lead roles in Mani Ratnam’s dream project Ponniyan Selvan. Hope Karthi impresses us with many more exciting projects.
